Illinois Attorney General Again Selects Imaginary Landscape for Investigation Release Website

December 16, 2024

CHICAGO -- On December 12, 2024 Attorney General Kwame Raoul released the findings of its three-year investigation into policing practices in Joliet, Illinois.  The investigation revealed that the Joliet Police Department uses unreasonable force, has an inadequate system for crisis intervention response, and discriminates against women, Black people and possibly Latino people.

Imaginary was engaged by the Illinois Attorney General's office to build a custom website for the report release. The new website was created in tight collaboration with the AG's investigative team, technical team and executive leadership.

"We were excited to be selected once again by the Attorney General to assist with an investigative report," said Brian Moloney, President and CEO of Imaginary Landscape.  "The web-based presentation allows greater exposure and access to the content of the report."

The website was created on the dotCMS platform and includes customizations specifically tailored for reports of this nature.  One such customization was the treatment of footnotes.

"Investigative reports are full of footnotes which can interrupt the flow of the reader," said Moloney.  "We customized the dotCMS interface so that footnotes can be reviewed inline with the content, creating a better user experience."

Imaginary also identified and created content callouts as well as photographic imagery to break up the text-heavy nature of the report.

This is the second time the Attorney General has engaged Imaginary Landscape for assistance with the release of an investigative report.  In 2023, Imaginary assisted with the AG's Clergy Investigation.
